Gloucester Harbour Revision (Constitution) Order(2002) HARBOURS ACT 1964 (AS AMENDED) GLOUCESTER HARBOUR REVISION (CONSTITUTION) ORDER. The Order alters the constitution of the Trustees, the
object being to give effect to the guidance contained in the government
report "Modernising Trust Ports - a Guide to Good Governance". The new
constitution provides for a body of ten Trustees, nine of whom will be
appointed in accordance with the Trustees' published appointments procedure.
The remaining Trustee will be the Trustees' principal operational officer,
thereby ensuring executive representation on the Trustees. The Order makes other provisions, including requirements as to selection and terms of appointment of Trustees, the manner in which they are to conduct their business the establishment of an Advisory Body or Bodies and provisions for the protection of the Trustees from personal liability in the discharge of their functions. The Order repeals or revokes certain ancient legislation and also extends the seaward limits of the Gloucester Harbour. The Order does not authorise a project. Accordingly Council Directive 85/337/EEC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment (as amended by Council Directive 97/11/EC) does not apply to the proposal and no environmental statement has been supplied with the application. A copy of the Order may be inspected between the hours of 9.30 and 13.00 on Mondays to Fridays at the Trustees' offices at Navigation House, The Docks, Sharpness, Berkeley GL13 9UD (telephone no: 01453 811913). It is suggested that interested parties telephone in advance to ensure that the office is open. A copy of the Order is also available on the Trustees' website at www.gloucesterharbourtrustees.org.uk.
