Temporary Closure of Navigation
A40 Over Bridge
Notice is hereby given that in order to facilitate works relating
to:
(a) the stabilisation of the river bank and river bed in the
vicinity of
(b) the blast cleaning and repainting of the structural steelwork
of the bridge and
(c) repairs to the bridge soffit,
the section of the River Severn between the downstream face of the
The temporary closure (expected to last until June 2010) will be
marked by two prominent signs marking the upstream and downstream points past
which no passage will be permitted and which are indicated by the red arrows on
the diagram overleaf.
A further notice, indicating when navigation may recommence will be
promulgated in due course.
Small craft requiring through navigation may do so via the Eastern
Parting, which is unaffected by the above works.
