NOTICE TO MARINERS NO. 6/09

 

RIVER SEVERN – SURVEY WORK AND

SCIENTIFIC BUOY-LAYING

Mariners are advised that from Friday 6th November 2009, weather permitting, the survey vessel MV Titan Voyager will be conducting numerous surveys in the vicinity of Oldbury Power Station.

For 6 days (weather permitting) a full bathymetric and side scan sonar survey will be undertaken with data being collected 4km up and down river of Oldbury Power Station.

The Titan Voyager is an 8m yellow Cheetah Marine catamaran and will be towing equipment approximately 10 metres astern of the vessel. During operations the vessel will be travelling at a survey speed of approximately 4 knots.

Mariners should navigate with caution when in the vicinity of the vessel and as wide a berth as is practicable is requested (minimum 150m advised). 

All appropriate survey shapes and lights will be displayed by the vessel.
