NOTICE TO MARINERS NO. 2/10

 

RIVER SEVERN

SCIENTIFIC BUOY-LAYING 

British Admiralty Chart 1166

  

Mariners are advised that from Wednesday, January 6th 2010 , weather permitting, 3 single point moorings and data-gathering buoys will be deployed in the vicinity of Oldbury Power Station on the River Severn. These moorings will be situated at Pillhouse Rocks, Chapel Rock and Sharpness (north of docks) in the following positions:

The MV Riparian, a 75ft vessel will deploy the buoys and moorings. The moorings are expected to be present for 9 days and will be marked by hard yellow IALA special marked buoys carrying radar reflectors and lights having the characteristic Gp Fl Y (5) 20s.

Mariners should navigate with caution when in the vicinity of the buoys and as wide a berth as is practicable is requested (minimum 150m advised).
